Broken Loaf Food Pantry

Each week the Lakewood First United Methodist Church Broken Loaf Food Pantry is open to provide FREE food to our neighbors in the Lakewood community.  Volunteers meet each Friday night to prepare for Saturday.  Each Saturday volunteers assist families as they shop in our food pantry.

Come out and show your community how much you care!  Earn community service hours while having fun and serving others!! Our food pantry is located on the grounds of the Lakewood First United Methodist Church, located at 4300 Bellflower Blvd, Lakewood, California 90713.  Volunteers are needed each Friday night 6:00-7:30 PM and each Saturday morning 8:30-11:00 AM.  Please contact Jay Gray at (562)229-4355 or graybird5@verizon.net to volunteer.

Volunteer Opportunities Include:

-Separate bulk food

-Restock canned/boxed goods

-Sign-in families as they arrive

-Serve refreshments

-Assist families as they shop

-Bag food items

-Clean up

Donated Food Item Suggestions Include:

– Canned Tuna, Beef, or Chicken

– Canned Soups

– Canned Vegetables

– Canned Fruits

– Canned Beans (i.e. refried, baked, pinto, chili)

– Boxed Item (i.e. rice, macaroni ‘n cheese, mash potato)

– Bottled Juices

– Other sealed, non-refrigerated food items (i.e. peanut butter, jelly)

Other Suggestions:

– Monetary Contributions

– Plastic Shopping Bags

– Resealable Plastic Food Storage Bags (quart and gallon)

– Paper Bags (lunch size)

– Paper Towels

– Napkins

– 8oz hot beverage cups

– Toilet Paper

– Trash Bags (13-gallon and 33-gallon)

– Computer Printing/Copy Paper
